Default WebPlus Mini-Wishlist - GLOBS

I did a search on this before I decided to post. I also know there are wish lists already here but I thought I'd start one about this subject. If you feel that this needs to be in an already established wish list - please feel free to move it there.

GLOBS => GLOBAL OBJECTS

Rename the "Gallery" to be GLOBS. Gallery makes you think of an art gallery. GLOBS makes you go "Say What?". But just like BLOBS (Binary Large Objects), GLOBS would become known as just GLOBAL OBJECTS. And it would actually mean a lot more to people than Gallery does.

Just a suggestion. :-)

Copied to Wish List #3. Please feel free to use the current thread to discuss the suggested change.

Ok - in addition to the GLOBS suggestion I actually had a new idea but the GLOBS thing drove it completely out of my head. So here it is:

Instead of actually _placing_ the GLOB'd code in to the web page (when developing of course) - use a place marker. Like "<GLOB name='XYZ'/>". Then, when the web pages are generated you replace the above command with the actual code to create that part of the web page.

Why do this? Because then GLOBs can be edited and modified and ALL of the web pages that use the GLOB are updated automagically.

This is the big difference between a "Gallery" and a "GLOB". With a Gallery you create something and store that _something_. This means that once you've placed a galleried object you are stuck with it. The original object has no power over the copies of it that were placed into the web pages. But with a GLOB - when you update the GLOB you update ALL of the GLOBs associated with that one GLOB.

Also, while I am at it - how about an import/export feature for the GLOBs so you can quickly export to plain HTML or import from a pre-existing WebPlus project. Like say I work on a project for someone and I come up with a nifty GLOB that does an accordion menu. It would be nice to be able to bring up the GLOBs from that project and select which ones I want to use again.

Pretty nifty idea eh? :-)
