Unhappy Can't open document

Hi, im using the trial for PagePlus starter edition on my windows vista basic laptop ... When I try to open my document from my desktop without starting my PPlus it says ''windows cannot find (name of location of my doc) Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. BUT when I open PagePlus and then open my document it works .. The thing is I can't seem to send my document on an email because it doesnt work without opening PagePlus... What should I do please??

AND CAN I PUBLISH THIS DOC ON HTML WITH THE TRIAL?/ HOW?/
THANKS AGAIN

Hi and welcome to the Serif forums.

The free Page Plus Starter Edition has many features disabled including Export as Pdf, Export as Picture and switch to WebMode > Publish to Disk.

to access these features, upgrade to the full version of PagePlus so all the features are enabled

or

Try WebPlus if your intention is to create html documents.

If you can open PagePlus and then open your document from within PP, that suggests that somehow the file association has been lost when you click on the document file on the desktop.

You can send a close PagePlus file to anyone as an email file attachment. You can't send an open file as an email file attachment.

Open PagePlus and then select the file or figure out how to re-associate the file on your desktop with PagePlus. I'm not using Vista so can't give you the specifics, sorry.

Start Button > Control Panel > Default Programs > "Associate a file type or protocaol with a program" - go down the resultant list and find ".ppp" (without the quotation marks) click on it > Change program (top right) > Select "Serif PagePlus" if it is there & click OK, if it isn't then click "Browse" it should give you a list of your program folders, go down the list and find "Serif" > Double click on it > Double click on "PagePlus" > Double click on the folder there (hopefully only one but I don't know how the SE version labels it ) down that list to "Program" > double click > Select "PagePlus.exe" > Click "Open" and OK all the way out.

By the way, don't forget that if you send a PagePlus file to someone, they will need PagePlus to open it! If you want to convert it to a PDF, install a virtual printer, such as PrimoPDF, or CutePDF, and use that to "print" from PP to produce a PDF.
