Default Can "Check for update" be disabled?

On starting either MoviePlus X3 or PagePlus X4, a small window indicating that the Serif program in question is checking for a possible update is opened in the top left corner. After some time of trying to check for an update, I always get the message from the program that a connection could not be made. (I'm always online; that is not the problem.) Both MoviePlus and Pageplus have quite a struggle recovering from the failed attempt to connect to an IP address it cannot find. The computer screen turns white for a minute or two. If I'm lucky the "check for update" window might close after the minute or two, allowing me to use the program. Is it possible to turn off, disable or cancel the automatic "check for update" function on startup?

MvPX3
Tools->Options->General Tab. Untick "Automatically check for updates every x days.

PPx4
Tools->Options->Options->General. Untick "Check the Web for product updates every x days.

Edit: Even if it is left to check, and you are not on line, you can cancel the check by clicking on the red cross in the "checking" dialogue.

Default Re: Can "Check for update" be disabled?

Thanks! I'm sure that disabling the automatic, regular update check in Tools > Options is the end of this problem. When I click on the little red Exit cross in the little update window, I don't exit the update check. The whole screen goes white in stead, for a minute or two, showing that my computer system has not taken kindly to what I did. But not to worry. I've disabled the whole update check now, following your advice.
