Default Bamboo As Clothing Fabric?
A friend just told me about clothing made from bamboo. They have never actually seen it, nor have I heard of it.

Seems to me as though it would be rather stiff and scratchy.

Have you seen or handled or worn some?

If so, how's it compare to cotton or wool or synthetic fabrics?

If you can get bamboo underwear and socks then I would imagine they are comfortable enough.

If you had composite bamboo/hemp fibre cloth, depending on the proportions, it could be hamboo or bemp (plus lots of other combinations.)

Interesting concept but then we use wood for clothing.

I wonder what's best... bamboo or wood?
There's only one way to find out ....... FIGHT!!!

(Last comment probably means little to our transatlantic cousins - it's from a popular-ish TV comedy show here in UK)

Many years ago when I was serving in Hong Kong, a chinese friend told me that coolies saved hard to buy clothing made of Bamboo silk, it had the unique quality of being breathable and also waterproof. A sort of forerunner of Gortex.

What about polyester then? Or nylon? Textile engineering is a complex business! Paper, even the stuff you wipe you bum with is made from wood.
