Default Unable to Open Document

Hi, I am getting an 'Unable to open document' message when starting PagePlus X2, on clicking 'OK' PagePlus closes. This has affected some of our school networked computers running XP Pro.
The cure is to delete the local user profile and start again with a clean profile.
I have tried deleting the Serif folder from Documents and Settings/The affected profile/Application Data and the Serif folder from Local Settings/Temp folder, but there must be some other hidden reference to Serif within the local profile, (in the registry perhaps?) anyone know where this might be? (Save me having to reset printers etc.)

Hi Mr Bing

You may have lost some linked pictures.

Try closing PagePlus then - Use explorer to find the file - Press and hold the Shift key - double click on the file name - When PP has opened release the shift key.

If it is a missing link problem PP should open and you will get a "Can't find linked resource file.... etc." pop-up - deal with that as appropriate and all should be OK.

Hi Art
I don't think this is the problem as we are not trying to open any specific file, just to run the program with the default settings. But you've jogged my memory about holding down shift key while starting the program. Will give that a try next time I experience the problem.
Thanks
Mr Bing

You will need the Ctrl key held while starting the program to do the reset to defaults.

Odd though it obviously thinks it is trying open a document, it might be worth trying one from explorer just out of interest.
