Yes, chances are good that somebody knows.

All of Serif's software is designed to run on Windows only. If you have Windows on a MAC, then you can run Serif's software on a MAC.

Brian has just posted a tutorial on installing Parallels 5, Windows XP Pro and Digital Scrapbook Artist 2 on a Mac.

http://forums.serif.com/showpost.php...3&postcount=30

But, I understand that Serif prefers its apps to run on Bootcamp on the Mac instead of Parallels.

Hi mjh,

I think with the method I provided MrsPeel is quite sufficient to run ANY Serif application with no issues. Parallels is a much better virtualization program than it was when Serif originally posted their opinion on running Serif apps in a virtual environment.

It should perhaps be noted that any methods that are at all likely to work require that you have a copy of Microsoft Windows to install, whether you're installing on a partition via Boot Camp or on a Virtual Machine via your favourite VM package (VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox...).

The only method that doesn't require a copy of Windows is a Windows API/Libraries framework such as Wine. This is not likely to be successful though.

As always, Windows on Windows-compatible hardware is the best option (Boot Camp instead of a VM).

Talking of Macs, does MPX3 support dual CPUS?
So if I was to by a Mac Pro with 2 Xeon processors,, set it up to run MPX3, will it use both the processors? and all the cores?

I believe Jon has told us that some (or all) codecs in MvPx3 can use both cores of a dual-core CPU.

But my trusty WinXP PC has only a single-threaded, single-core AMD64.

Also I read somewhere that WinXP Home (unlike WinXP Pro, Vista or Windows 7) can only use one core.

Hi Richard,

Anything above Windows XP SP2 works with dual or quad cores fine. It's the application that needs to be written to utilize multiple cores.

However, Vista and Windows 7 both do better at managing multiple cores.

Thanks. That shows we can't believe all we read.

I believe the confusion came in when you probably read that XP Home can only handle one physical processor. However, XP Home can handle an unlimited amount of cores in one processor.

Thanks. Unfortunately, there seems to be much confusion in old web forums. Microsoft confirms that WinXP Home can support more than one core.
