PagePlus X4: problem installing serif SW.

I'm not able to install PPx4 or Web plus x4 in my new computer. Other programs install easily. I have attached the error message I receive.

I'm running XP 32 bit service pac 3 on a Asus P7P55LE board with 4G ram. I tried a different CD drive, tried copying the CD contents to a hard drive to run from there, disabled antivirus and firewall. none of this has worked. I purchased the program CDs from Serif.

What to do?

Contact Serif support, describe the situation, and ask for a replacement disk.

I will contact Serif about the problem.

But is it likely that both my Pageplus x4 and my Webplus x4 CDs are faulty? Or are you implying there new versions of these programs available that will overcome my install problem?

Sure sounds to me like both CDs are faulty.

Interesting username, Bill, and welcome to the Serif forums. I'm running both from CDs on this XP Pro, SP3 system.

PPX4 and WP X4 are the most current versions, so that's not it. Even older versions of both apps will install on XP Pro with no problem, usually. It would be a huge coincidence if the CDs of both apps were faulty. You've covered a lot of bases in trying to get a clean installation. I agree with JimB.... your next step should be with Customer Service.

Hi Bill,

It might be a CD problem, in which case try copying the entire contents of one of the CDs to a folder on your Desktop. If the copying process fails, there is a fault with your CD. If it doesn't, double-click setup.exe from the folder on your Desktop and install from there.

If that doesn't work either, please post back and let us know.

I believe Bill said in his OP that he had already tried this.

Oh dear, I clearly wasn't awake yet when I posted! Thanks Ali.

If the contents copy successfully but the install still fails then it's not likely to be a problem with the CD.

Bill - Could you generate an install log as per the KB article that Marilyn posted above and email it to me (swoodhouse@serif.com) and we'll look into this further.

OK!! That did it. PP x4 is up and running. Now I'll install WP x4 with the same method.
