Default How best to set cache expiration for objects in WP

I ran Firebug on my website. It says that a variety of my "cacheable resources have a short freshness lifetime." This mostly consists of images and a couple of javascripts. It says that the expiration is not set for any of these resources.

What is the best way to set an expiry date for these resources? Can it be done within WebPlus X2?

Hi

You can;t set cache expiration dates in WP. It has to be done in a .htaccess file.

Actually, perhaps the best action is to... not worry about it.

I'd have to agree with Jim, it;sn not really worth it. It will increase you page speed score by maybe 2, but play havoc with you as you try to maintain your site, forever wondering if you're looking at the "live" site or the cached version.

My rule, as long as you get over 72 in page speed all is well, google.x only manages 85.

Although moi has a site that hits a perfect 100

Mine is at 86, so I guess that I won't worry too much. Thanks for the info.

Hiya

Its a tool in FireBug for Mozilla, its called PageSpeed its by Google. You load the site and hit the Analyse Performance button and it gives you a relative score, and how you can improve it. See snapshot below.
Interestingly I stand corrected google.x is now 95/100 someone's being working hard.

I've stopped using FF except for testing, but that looks like a good tool. I wonder if I can get it in Chrome.

There isn't a direct copy for Chrome the closet i've just found is SpeedTracer just installed it but I couldn't get it to work, seemed too detailed for me.

Thanks Naz, I'll do that a bit later. Ponding the depths of a site right now and come here for comic relief.
