Dear All.
Serif (Europe) Ltd. is announcing the release of a patch for Digital Scrapbook Artist 2 (build number
2.0.2.017).
The main purpose of the patch is to resolve issues in Scrapbook 2.0.1, for which we apologise. A list of the major changes/fixes in this patch is provided below. Some are phrased in the negative from our database, but are nevertheless fixed in this patch.
- Feature: Re-wrote auto flow. Removed the option "Reuse photos if there are more frames than photos" as it isn't a common use-case, it's mutually exclusive with the "Insert pages" option and can lead to odd results when matching against the aspect ratio of frames
- Feature: Clips and crops now work much better and edge styles can be applied to portholes. Clipping / cropping is order dependant, so cropping then applying linestyle is different to applying linestyle then cropping.
- Improvement: Selecting the crop tool now takes into account any linestyles when drawing the crop area.
- Improvement: Cutout studio performance and memory improvements
- Improvement: Only flush memory to disk when it's an emergency
- Improvement: Try to salvage memory on 32bit machines before launching PhotoLab or cutout studio.
- Improvement: Paused the auto save before entering the PhotoLab or cutout studio.
- Improvement: Photos that are already used on the document (except those in photo frames, as you can replace those) are no longer included in the list of photos to auto flow with.
- Improvement: Digikit manager, changed search algorithm to match the start of search terms, rather than do whole word matching (it allows people to search for "flower" and see items tagged with "flowers").
- Improvement: Digikits with lots of images now save at a more reasonable file size.
- Fixed: A screen RC in cutout studio failed to allocate a bitmap.
- Fixed: Attempting to reset the handle of an invalid quick shape
- PhotoLab, Bullet-proofing against failure to generate thumbnails.
- Fixed: Blend modes do not work if an object has an edge.
- Fixed: Page Curl effect in PhotoLab leaves a white background rather than being transparent.
- Crash fix: PhotoLab crashes fix
- Crash fix: Uncropping objects could cause a crash.
- Crash fix: Crash occurs when the selected pane index is -1 (unsure how this occurs).
- Crash fix: Colour palette designer no longer crashes when it can’t access the colour tables.
- Crash fix: For crash in UploadDialog
- Crash fix: When undoing 'Material Thickness'.
- Crash Fix: Fixed possible crashes with text.
- Deadlock: Fixed potential deadlock when using text.
As well as all the issues fixed in the 2.0.1 patch
already announced
We would recommend that ALL users of Digital Scrapbook Artist 2 English download and install this patch. Serif recommend that patching should be done
within the program, by using the "Check for update from web" option in the Help Menu. This will always get any available patch for your version of Serif software (CD or download) and install it too. The downloads page
www.serif.com/downloads.asp has the patch also, which is 6.5 MB. The patch for the download DSA 2 is the same as for the CD version, but this patch is NOT suitable for the free compact version.
Helpfully the software checks for updates the first time it runs, so for those yet to install a CD, the latest patch will be found on first use.
To work out if you need this patch choose "About Digital Scrapbook Artist" in the help menu. If the version number in grey at the bottom is
2,0,1,13 or less (and you are running the English version) then you need this patch.
