Question Countdown date code

please

I am looking for a simple coding that would enable me to insert the number of days/weeks left before an event/meeting that is mentioned on a web site. It needs to be placed on the page near the main detail section and does want to be large. Just something like "Now only XXX days/weeks to go"

I have looked at some via Google but they are all too complicated and large.

I am sure that some of our Serif Forum members can help.

Thanks

Took me seconds to find several using google:
Enter "javascript counter countdown" in the search string.

It should be possible to insert the html code they provide into your site and modify the text and output string as required.

Hi mjg,

You are bound to find a script on either this site or this one, that will do what you are after.

You will then need to use a HTML Code Fragment (Insert > Web Object > HTML) then according to the script you use, paste the code to either the "Head", "Body" or both.

Giganic

Many thanks.
My problem is I only need a small display that shows months-weeks and days only. I find that looking at the code it is a bit difficult to determine how to re-write to do so. I am not experienced at all in HTML!!!!!!

the code I used is only small and when you look at it just change the bits you need and paste to head.
<script language="JavaScript">
TargetDate = "12/12/2010 19:00 PM";
BackColor = "palegreen";
ForeColor = "navy";
CountActive = true;
CountStepper = -1;
LeadingZero = true;
DisplayFormat = "%%D%% Days, %%H%% Hours, %%M%% Minutes, %%S%% Seconds.";
FinishMessage = "LIGHTS ON!";
</script>
<script language="JavaScript" src="http://scripts.hashemian.com/js/countdown.js"></script>

Please note the date format is US i.e. month first

Max - I think it's fair to say that you're going to have to get your hands dirty this time, but Graham's little script looks easy to manage. Best thing to do is copy it to an HTML fragment, have a play and keep previewing in the browser until you get the effect you're after.
