Dear All.

Serif (Europe) Ltd. is pleased to announce the release of an English language version patch for WebPlus X4 (build number 12.0.2.026).

The main purpose of the patch is to resolve issues in WebPlus X4 12.0.1, for which we apologise. A list of the major changes/fixes in this patch is provided in a subsequent post, as there is a limit to the size of a single post in the forum. The major ones are listed below. Some are phrased in the negative from our database, but are nevertheless fixed in this patch.

• Fix NavBar issues and created new navbar styles
• Added auto-retry to the FTP upload routine; should help with any network glitches experienced by users.
• Fixed: HTML IDs are repeated after reloading site (causes rollovers to fail)
• Studiobars hidden if you close the program while viewing preview/source window.
• Fixed Flash PhotoGalleries with speech marks in captions.
• Special characters in search term break 'Site Search' feature.
• Fixed: Can't set the text attributes at the text caret, for new text.
• Fixed: Lightbox photo galleries aren't displaying captions.
• Fixed crash when cloning page with theme graphic.
• Fixed crash loading templates if selected quickly.
• Fixed numerous other crashes.

We would like to apologise for how long it has taken for the WebPlus X4 12.0.2 patch to be released. Much of the time has been needed in order to address many of the issues with the navigation bars discovered post release. We found we had to rewrite some of the code and redesign the creative content to address the problems discovered. As such the navigation bars are essentially redesigned, making them more reliable and adjustable.


The patch will affect navigation bars in your existing sites differently depending on whether you have used JavaScript or Flash types. When loading an existing site after the 12.0.2 patch:
- JavaScript navigation bars will not be automatically replaced with the new versions and so they will appear the same as they were before. You may wish to remove the navigation bars and add new ones to benefit from the updates in the patch, especially if you have experienced any specific problems with the previous JavaScript navigation bars you were using. Indeed we strongly recommend that you do replace them with the redesigned ones.
- Flash navigation bars will be automatically replaced with one of the new versions. Colours, fonts and separators will be preserved where possible, but otherwise the navigation bar will look visually quite different. Before publishing your site, you may wish to update the style attributes of the navigation bar or possibly choose a different style from the new list to ensure that you are happy with the appearance of the new navigation bar.

We would recommend that ALL users of WebPlus X4 download and install this patch. Serif recommend that patching should be done within the program, by using the "Check for update from web" option in the Help Menu. This will always get any available patch for your version of Serif software (CD or download) and install it too. The downloads page www.serif.com/downloads.asp has the patch also, which is 33.6 MB.

To work out if you need this patch choose "About WebPlus" in the help menu and if the version number is 12.0.0.019 or 12.0.0.20 or 12.0.1.22 and you are running the English version then you need this patch. Helpfully the software checks for updates the first time it runs, so for those yet to install a CD, the latest patch will be found on first use if needed.

This WebPlus X4 Patch includes a mini patch for the files in the registration bonus content installer.

As explained above there have been many fixes made to WebPlus X4 in the 12.0.2 build. We hope that this additional programming effort, mending outstanding issues, results in a much improved user experience. We have addressed many user reported forum issues, and felt that a full list would benefit those who read and post here.

These are the fixes that have been made since 12.0.1 was released

• Fix NavBar issues and created new navbar styles
