Default Sound file

Hi all,
I placed a sound file on my master page, in preview it is on every page but when I go 'live' it is only on 'home' page, also I wrote "click for background" next to icon. When in site I click this it comes up save then plays but when I leave the site it is still playing on my pc? Is there something I've missed?

Bill

I think you need to try inserting the music as inline otherwise, as you see yourself, the visitor has to save/open the file independently from the website and it will continue to play in their music player.

I suspect the other issue with the music icon on just the Home page is due to the fact you have a different flash banner on the other pages and it's moved down a bit, probably covering the icon.

Try Insert > Media > Sound and use inline.

I think you may be right, just previewed it in Goole Chrome it plays OK but you can't leave it in the background while you scroll the site.

You mean the music? Each time you open a new page it restarts?

To get over that, you'd have to use an Iframe.

Hi Tom,
No, I've just changed it to 'inline' it plays great but when you turn the page it switches off! and there is no player on every page, even though I placed it on the master.

Sorted, well as good as. Silly Billy didn't 'select all' when up loading.
It is on each page now but if you start it on 'home' and then jump you have to restart
on another page, were as I wanted it to scroll through like a background to a story.

Good morning, Bill

TOmR's suggested using an iframe to achieve that. Just go to the link in your sig for a tutorial on how to do just that.

Hello Bill,

Sorry, I got sidetracked.

The general opinion here is that music on a website is a no-no. There's been quite a few threads about it and I never have my speakers on unless I'm visiting YouTube for music. Then again, your music is not auto-play.

That said, if it's something you really want to have on the site, you will have to use an iframe or, as you've noticed, the music will restart on each new page. That's just the way it is with browsers, but let me find a recipe.

Just one other thing that folk forget, copyright............it's your music?
