Dear All.

Serif (Europe) Ltd. is pleased to announce the release of a patch for MoviePlus X3 (build number 6.0.3.020).

The main purpose of the patch is to resolve a number of issues discovered after the release of MoviePlus X3, for which we apologise.


A list of the changes/fixes in this patch are listed below, some are phrased in the negative in the database, but are nevertheless fixed ...

• Transcoding problem with DVD exports

• Default open/save path is wrong in Windows 7

• Storyboard performance problems for projects with lots of sources
  
• Stuttering problem with image sources on slow single-core machines
  
• Crash caused by corrupt galleries after uninstalling 6.0.1 or 6.0.2, and then installing and running 6.0.0
  
• Crash in Mask effect mini-preview
  
• Pansonic lumix codec crash
  
• AVCHD audio stream is truncated
  
• Animated GIFs didn't work
  
• Add to library / project fails and overwrites clipboard contents
  
• Large STV file fails to retain it's transparency
  
• Caption transitions not updated properly when pasting clip into storyboard
  
• YouTube exports can exceed maximum duration
  
• Crash when attempting to use an .EPS file for menu background
  
• Rendering problem when exporting .MOV sources with transitions

• Right click while dragging trim handle in trim dialog cancels drag

• When importing multiple MPEGs, "Index MPEGs?" dialog gets shown for each file
  
• Dragging multiple files to timeline fails to add all files
  
• Files dragged from Explorer to media pane get added to selected folder instead of where they're dropped
  
  

as well as all the issues fixed in the previous MoviePlus X3 6.0.2 patch. This software patch is the only patch you need to apply, no matter what version of MoviePlus X3 you are currently running. There is no need to uninstall any previous patch before installing this patch.

Additional Release Notes
1. This patch will cause exports to DVD (including Disc, Disc Image and Folder targets) to be exported as constant bit rate (CBR) MPEGs, regardless of the "Encoding" setting in the export settings. This has been done to improve the reliability of DVD exports, avoiding the transcoding problems that some users have experienced.
N.B. Exporting to .MPG file using DVD-compatible settings is not affected by this change.

2. AVCHD files are no longer indexed by default. This change improves audio stream length detection for these files. If you have previously indexed AVCHD files, and the audio stream length was wrongly detected, please go to...
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Show Index Files
... and delete the relevant index files.
This will cause the stream lengths to be recalculated when they are next added to the timeline.

We would recommend that ALL users of MoviePlus X3 (English) download and install this patch. Serif recommend that patching should be done within the program, by using the "Check for update from web" option in the Help menu of MoviePlus X3. This will always get any available patch for your version of Serif software (CD or download) and installs it too. The downloads page www.serif.com/downloads.asp has the patch also, which is 4.4 MB. The patch for the English download MoviePlus X3 is the same as for the English CD version.

To work out if you need this patch choose "About MoviePlus" in the help menu and if the version number is 6.0.2.017 or less then you need this patch.
