Exclamation DrawPlus X2 (9.0.5) Patch Announcement

Dear All.

Serif Ltd. is pleased to announce the release of a patch for DrawPlus X2 (build number 9.0.5.025).

The main purpose of the patch is to resolve a number of issues discovered after the release of Windows 7 in relation to DrawPlus X2, for which we apologise.

We would recommend that ALL users of DrawPlus X2 (English) download and install this patch.

Serif recommend that patching should be done within the program, by using the "Check for update from web" option in the Help Menu of DrawPlus X2. This will get the right patch for your version of the software (CD or download) and install it too. The downloads page www.serif.com/downloads.asp has the patch also, which is 9.75 MB. The patch for the English download DrawPlus X2 is the same as for the English CD version. If you bought DrawPlus X2 with a Product key to install it, you must use "check for updates" as the patch on the downloads page is not correct for you.

A list of the changes/fixes in this patch are listed below, some are phrased in the negative in the database, but are nevertheless fixed ...

* Fix for Windows 7 issue, 'Open Saved Work' dialog failing to work correctly with Windows 7 'Libraries'
* Fix for Windows 7 issue, Export as Video dialog doesn't find a sensible default directory
* Fix for Tweak to prompt on Export ScreenSaver option to include only Windows XP, rather than exclude Windows Vista as it would now require * Windows 7 to be added to the list too!
* Broken colourspace profile causing crash.
* Fix for missing sound files causing SWF export to crash. Fix for unsuccessful blends accessing bad data.
* Fix for Media Pane trying to select items which don't appear in the document and crashing (as they are used as resources for the KFA frames, not as document elements).
* Fix for Motion Exporter using non-existent motion object pairs (ie, bad cached data in a crazy multi-dimensional array!)
* Fix fort problems when opening docs from MRU lists which no longer exist.
* Fix for Crash while building connector map during save.
* Fix for crash in Layer control problem with "on File New"
* Fixed objects dissappearing in an animation if they were ghost.

Plus all issues fixed in the previous 9.0.4 patch and all previous patches.
Please report any problems updating DrawPlus X2 in this thread.

Regarding the latest patch 9.0.5 for Serif DrawPlus X2. I have tried installing this in Windows 7 several times unsuccessfully. There have been several attempts from within the program, and also twice using a downloaded patch. I have been requested to put the CD into the drive, but this makes no difference.

Could you try uninstalling DrawPlus X2, reinstalling it from your CD and then applying the patch?

Thanks Sarah,

I have done that now, and all is well.

Hello There

We are trying to install the latest patch on our RM CC3 network. We already have the software installed we just want to install the patch. Is there a simple way of doing this. Obviously going through the help - check web updates is not good for us as it needs installed on 100+ machines.

I have tried running the patch exe and I get the following message...

This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a vaild windows installer patch package.

Any advice would be grateful

Hello Coulter,

I would suggest that you contact Sarah Woodhouse at Serif who is in a position to give you much more advice than I am able to give. If she doesn't personally have the information you require, then I would think that she has access to the programmers who created the program.

You might also consider starting a new thread in the forums. Give it a title something like "DPX2 Patch won't install on network". That might get some comments about that specific problem, rather than posting it here at the bottom of an old thread.
