Dear All.
Serif (Europe) Ltd. has decided to release of a patch for PhotoPlus X3 (build number 13.0.1.011). The main purpose of the patch is to resolve issues discovered after the mastering of PhotoPlus X3, for which we apologise.

We would also recommend that ALL users of PhotoPlus X3 download and install this patch. To work out if you need this patch choose "About PhotoPlus X3" in the help menu and if the version number is 13.0.0.010 then you need this patch. Helpfully the software checks for updates the first time it runs, so for those yet to install a CD, the latest patch will be found on first use. Serif recommend that patching should be done within the program, by using the "Check for update from web" option in the Help Menu. This will always get any available patch for your version of Serif software (CD or download) and install it too. The patch downloads page www.serif.com/downloads.asp has the patch also, which is 1 MB.

A list of the changes/fixes in this patch are listed below. Some are phrased in the negative from our database, but are nevertheless fixed.

1. Fix for Tiled printing not working
2. The Filter Gallery's Add Filter menu now displays and adds the correct filters in 16-bit colour modes
3. Fix for not being able to position and size the Vignette Filter's vignette.
4. The Print Studio's 'Single Image' mode now defaults to the active document
5. Many hintline and tooltips improved
6. TIFF and WDP open as 'Background' layers like other formats
7. Fix for automatic blemish removal not working in the QuickFix Studio - the patch was always being drawn at the top-left of the image
8. Fix for the 'Print Separations' check box on the Print Studio's Separations page not updating when a different printer is selected
9. Instant Artist, Quick Fix Studio and Raw Studio draw the preview options correctly when next opened.
10. The Burn tool wasn't working correctly on 16 bits/channel images
11. The crop tool now works correctly in animation mode
12. Instant artist preview - different zooms Before/After on converted RAW images
13. Stopped the Colour Management dialog from chaning the view's zoom level
14. Fix for text highlighting not working in 16-bit/channel colour modes
15. Stopped the Kaleidoscope filter from reversing the background colour
16. The Shear filter was making undefined areas transparent rather than using the background colour
17. Fix for Layer Effects being draw twice when moving the selected area of a layer
18. The Fill command now respects the selected layer's 'Lock Pixel Opacity' option
19. Fix for the Gradient Fill tool being available on Filter layers
20. The Flood Fill, Gradient Fill and Flood Eraser tools now respect the selected layer's 'Lock Pixel Opacity' option
21. Stopped the Colour Pickup tool from invoking a context menu when right-clicking on an image to set the background colour
22. The 'New Image' dialog's category combo is now updated after renaming a category
23. The Instant Artist and Extract commands are now disabled if the selected layer's pixels are locked
24. Tab menus now indicate thumbnail size
25. Stopped button corruption when resizing the Instant Artist
26. Added 'Edit Pause...' to the Macros tab's right-click menu
27. Fix for the crop tool not snapping when moving the left, right, top or bottom handles
