Sound capture

Using a JVC GRD70k video camera connected by USB cable to Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop. MP4 captures video no problem but no sound. The AVI file is on the preview panel but when dragged to timeline is silent. In the capture window I have both the capture Vidoe and Audio ticked. Under Audio in the input menu I have three choices CD Audio, Microphone, and Stero Mix. The latter two produce a sound similiar to the moter of the Video Camera, the CD produces no sound. In the Scource box I set the Pin line to match the Audio box and tick the enable box. But still no sound.
Can ANYONE HELP - I e-mailed serifsupport 5 days ago but have had no reply - Not What I expected -
