Lightbulb Spam-Phishing-eBay

I have just received a phishing email purporting to come from ebay about my account. It states that there are problems with the account and quotes a link to click so that the problems can be looked at. Do not click this link. Delete the message. My email address may have been harvested from the Serif Forum. You may receive one of these messages.

Lightbulb Re:Spam-Phishing-eBay

Keith,

I get these all the time. The first time I got one, I had just started using ebay and I thought it was bona fide... argh! No harm came of it.

Ebay has a warning on the My Account page at the ebay site that they will never send out emails. So just delete, delete, delete. Same for messages from PayPal.

Lightbulb delete......

any forum that lists your email address [like this one] is liable for phishing / harvesting of email addresses. These addresses are harvested and form banks of email accounts that spammers and scammers use. The address I use here is one I created "specifically" for visiting this forum to prove it was happening, sure enough it is. The easy was round it is to post with your address altered slightly [see above], then anyone who genuinely wants to contact you off forum will work it out .......... as has been advised before here and everywhere else, if in doubt, delete, what's the worse that could happen? that you might genuinely miss out on $20,000,000 of Nigerian oil revenue? I don't think so...... hit the big 'X', and the world will still be spinning in the morning, I assure you...
