help make poverty history
This post has nothing to do with serif software and was previously posted in error in the PP10 forum as I was unaware of this general forum, where it seems to have caused an bit of an argument for reasons that are completely beyond me.
However:-
2005 is set to be the year of the White Band.
The following section of text is taken from the introduction to a site explaining:
(link) :- http://www.makepovertyhistory.org/home.html
‘ By wearing it you’ll be part of Make Poverty History, a unique worldwide effort to end extreme poverty – for good.
Over the next 12 months a series of landmark meetings are taking place where world leaders can finally stop 30,000 people dying needlessly every day, just because they’re poor.
With your support extraordinary things are possible in 2005.’
Any site can put a white band on the website to demonstrate support for the End Poverty campaign,
Put a whiteband on your website, add this code
just under the <body> tag : <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.makepovertyhistory.org/whiteband_big_left.js"></script>
(you can cutomise it by changing "left" to "right" and/or "big" to "small")
Of course, if we don’t we’ll be ok, but 30,000+ people a DAY (10,950,000 a year), wont unless the Politicians begin to see that ordinary people find it unacceptable.
The majority of Politicians who control the world in our name are either too dim, short sighted and indifferent or focused on the wrong things to act unless the people who supposedly put them into their positions of power are seen to be overwhelmingly concerned with issues such as this.
Watch the short videos on this site http://www.makepovertyhistory.org/home.html and then proclaim this post as ‘off topic’. It puts not getting what you wanted for Christmas into perspective.
All I am asking is that people visit the site on the link above and see for themselves what it is about and sign up to support what all right thinking people know to be right ....don't worry it dosen't cost anything to look.
Thanks for your time
Derek
