Default How to have menu bar like Serif's own

I really like the navigation bar at the top of Serif's own website
http://www.serif.com/

Can this be done with Webplus X6 (or did Serif not use their own product to design their own site ). If this can be done, anyone know if there is a tutorial on it somewhere? I really like it and I would like one ...

Hi Steve,

You can't create this type of menu in Webplus. You can howver, find a similar menu script on the web and incorporate it into your website. You'll need to code yourself in HTML and CSS with HTML fragments and you'll get the desired effect. Find a menu that you like the look of, try using Google to search for Menus and post back. I'll help you if you can find a script.

Or, try this link for mega-menus scripts

Hi Steve,

I've found something similar here.

http://www.designchemical.com/lab/jq...tting-started/

It comes with instructions to implement in your browser.

Let me know if you need help.

If you're not into coding, you could use a third-party menu maker. Check THIS POST for info and demo of one that I use. The pure CSS menus created in the recommended application can be customised in terms of size, colours etc. There is also a megamenu option, but it doesn't support images except for menu icons. You can configure a megamenu to have as many rows and columns as you like.

Hope this is of some help.

Regards

Yes, it can be done with WebPlus X6.

Put navigation bar on master page with navigation type 'Top Level'. Right-click > 'Convert to panel'. On the same master page add a panel that contains links to other pages. Hide panel. Select the appropriate navigation bar button and add visibility action 'Show as a popup menu' to show the panel.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I am comfortable with a bit of coding and I will definitely follow up the suggestions and links you have offered.

I'll get back to you when I have absorbed all the info.

Many thanks for the help - much appreciated.

Thanks Naz,

I wonder whether you can add another action so panel(s) show when the navbar button is clicked so it works on mobile devices (you would then need a close button on each panel).

There's also this css tab design software that does menu's also.

http://www.highdots.com/products/css-tab-designer/

Seems very quick and easy but I always seem to have at least one problem with the output that I never seem to overcome! lol

You don't necessarily need a close panel action, but could just toggle the initial button to open/close and stick a vertical menu in.

Thanks Naz,

I expect most site visitors would not realise your navbar button toggles the popup menu. So I think the solution is either to have a 'Close' button on the popup for mobile users or to simply to link to a new page. The snag with a 'Close' button is that it will show on proper browsers unless you are really clever and make it so it only shows on mobile devices. The Serif website simply links to a new page but it is interesting that if you want e.g. WebPlus product help you have to get there via two intermediate pages if using a mobile device.
