Default PhotoPlus X7 - Wishlist

The new Photo Plus X6
has not upgrade or modernised the straighning tool,
even freeware programes recognize how important it is to see what you are doing,

a simple corner corner tilt then crop tool is fast so you dont need to do everything bit by bit again and again guessing your result before starting again cos you keep getting it wrong

Serif PhotoPlus is excellent software, but like Photoshop suffers the drawback of being very tough to learn to use effectively.

Brilliant, but be prepared to devote 100 hours to learning what all the buttons do.

And even then, actually working on a photo is time consuming.

The problem is that Photoplus is mostly task oriented rather than goal oriented.

By comparison I recommend you look at Portrait Professional. They have free trial download.
http://www.portraitprofessional.com/

As you can see it makes turning snaps into portraits a matter of seconds.

It is so easy to use you don't even need a manual. You open an image, click in the corners of the eyes, mouth and tip of nose to give edges to the face. You then move sliders to reduce pores and spots, remove shine etc.
60 secs later you are done.

Of course it is only specialized for portraits. But what would happen if you re-designed a product starting off with the user choosing what type of photo they wanted to work on:

Landscape, portrait, macro, underwater, wildlife, sports etc.

and then you gave the user selections geared to that photo type:
For example: Landscapes might want sky improvement, object removal, sharpening etc.

Do this and I think you would have a killer product.
And I'm not even suggesting changing Photoplus but creating a whole new product that is EASY and intuitive to use.

Works just like PhotoShop Elements. I find it very easy to use.

To get corner 'handles', use the Deform tool. You can then grab a corner and rotate.

I merged zuperblue's thread and Gary's reply to it into this thread, but they're out of order chronologically now. Sorry for any confusion!

I've quoted zuperblue's post at the top of Gary's reply to make it clear what Gary was responding to.

Okay, I'd love to see the mouse wheel work like it does in PagePlus (or Acrobat, or OpenOffice...) where the wheel itself scrolls up/down, shift-wheel scrolls left/right, and ctrl-wheel zooms. And if the image is larger than the window, I want to be able to scroll "off the edge" of the image so I can more easily see the edge pixels that need either cropping or tweaking. It would make PhP so much more useable to me so I don't have to keep grabbing the scroll bars.

Support for scanning in PhP 64bit. Include a 32bit Scanning interface which can be called directly from PhP 64bit or include a WIA Scanning interface.

For usage, we should be in the PhP forum...

The screen shot below shows how I usually get horizontal elements lined up. I first create a layer above the image I am working on. Then I use the rectangular marquee tool to create a thin rectangular selection on that new layer. And I fill it with a contrasting color. Move the layer until it lines up close to the horizontal element in the image I desire to have lined up to the colored rectangle.

Then switch back to the image layer. Deform tool, rotate until it is as close as I can.

Take care, Mike

More of a slight bug than an actual improvement. I get the following error when I use "Open With" to load up PhotoPlus with a selected image.

Size:	100.1 KB

It only happens when PhotoPlus isn't already loaded up. And it still loads up Photoplus and loads the image directly into it.

It's not major just annoying... any chance you could fix this?

Is there any chance of larger brushes sizes for the Paintbrush, Pencil, and the Picture Brush Tool? The Paintbrush and Pencil seems to only go up to 1000 in size. And your Picture Brush goes to 250. On large images this is very limiting.

I think that is a Windows "problem", not Serif. To do with the time it takes to open.

I hope it isn't something that can't be sorted by Serif. Though, I'm not too overly bothered by it, PhotoPlus X6 is an amazing product, and I'm really happy with it!

Already using it to create some art - or in this case a zombie. Really happy with how it turned out. Happy I brought this instead of Photoshop Elements!

http://forums.serif.com/showthread.p...205#post898205

The undo button for the distort tool will undo SEVERAL separate changes with only 1 undo. In other words, if I make 10 separate changes to an image or object, and then press the undo button, the object will revert to its original state, not undo the last change. This is extremely annoying and defeats the entire purpose of the undo button, which is supposed to undo only specific changes.

I understand that this isn't just isolated to the distort feature, but other tools also lack proper undo functionality.

I can't imagine how Serif would overlook something like this, as the other commenters on the thread above suggested this is an ongoing problem, not something recent.

A backspacing facility to remove previous nodes when using the selection tools.

Post Re: PhotoPlus X7 - Wishlist

It seams that X6 is X5 made 64bit.
Allot of the same things X5 could not do is still overlooked in X6.
Allot of the limitations in X5 are still exhist X6.

One Problem is if you run X6 with out any plugins
natively if you switch to 16 Bit Color mode features are disabled for example noise filter and other filter are too.

Before a new version is realsed all features that work in 8 bit color mode the same need to work in 16bit mode also.

Not just a problem here and a problem there.

The organizer could be made 64 bit.

In This release it looks like that would not be able to get raw from the ColorPix P7700 that now has raw support.

Perhaps they could add presets for cameras like noise removal.
