Exclamation Copying text error

Hi,

I've been using Drawplus for years now and had few technical issues. However a few days ago copying text stopped working.

THE ISSUE:
I select anything with text in (any number of objects, grouped or un-grouped), copy them (Ctrl-C), and then try and paste (Ctrl-V).

Rather that pasting the object in the same location onto the page (as per normal) the cursor icon changes to the icon it is when you paste something in from outside the file (a plus sign and a hatched square). When I click to place the copied objects a blank/invisible unformatted text box appears (ie: no letters long, Times New Roman, 12pt).

Ctrl-Drag still seems to work to copy text (although obviously not useful to copy from page to page).

The error started as soon as I opened Drawplus one morning it seems. It had been fine recently and I have not intentionally changed any settings, etc.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
- Rebooting the PC,
- Restarting DrawPlus,
- Trying different files (old and new),
- repairing the installation,
- un-installing and re-installing,
- un-installing and re-installing (with RevoUninstall to clear the regestory),

Wierdly, even after the RevoUninstall I got a message saying "your installation seem to have changed, would you like to keep or reset your user settings." I chose reset.

Nothing... still the same problem.

Help please!

Thank you.

Hi white light filter,

Welcome to the forums.

It sounds as though you've tried a lot of things to fix it. The fact that you've Revo Uninstaller and had the reset user settings window suggests that you still have the user files in Application Data folder so didn't thoroughly clean out Draw Plus with Revo.

This may or may not work, but it's worth a try. Hold down the Ctrl key and then launch DrawPlus, keep holding the Ctrl key down until a window pops up asking if you want to reset the user settinings (similar to the one you received after uninstalling with Revo). Tick the box to reset, then try Copying and pasting text again.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your response.

Just tried that. Sadly nothing. Same thing still happens.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

How about attaching a copy of the file here if it ZIPs to less than 500kb. Maybe someone will take a look at it for you.

No such problem here, even with your file.

You can open a new window onto the current document by choosing 'New Window' from the Window menu. After choosing a different page in one of the windows, you can Ctrl-drag objects from one window to the other. Ctrl-click (without dragging) has the same effect as that which you can normally achieve via Ctrl+C followed by Ctrl+V; i.e. it places a copy of the selected object directly on top of the original.

All of the above are, of course, just workarounds which do nothing to resolve the fundamental problems with your installation.

Hi white-light-filter

I opened DrawPlus X3 and downloaded your file and, like Geoff, had no problems copying and pasting the text to a new page either as individual objects, both selected but separate or grouped objects. Sorry, I'm at a loss as to what to suggest.
