Default Trial before buying??

Does Serif not offer to try before buying x6?

I was advised to buy either Nitro Professional or PagePlus for pdf editing, but I can see that PagePlus is a much more comprehensive program than Nitro. But does it work as efficient as Nitro - hard to say without trying.

Specifically I would like to know if PagePlus offer bates numbering and OCR'ing of a pdf without searchable text?

As a matter of interest, I converted a complicated newsletter into pdf by two routes, direct from PP, and using Nitro as the printer. I then opened both in PP. The opened Nitro derived pdf was nowhere as convenient as the PP direct version.
This was a quick check, and not comprehensive.

Also, surely, while PP opens pdf's very well for PP editing, it isn't meant as a pdf editor.

Hello Mlun,

PagePlus does not OCR.

In case you already have Nitro PDF, then you are in very good company.

I create my PDF documents with PagePlus (X5 and X6) and then print them to Nitro PDF (version 7 but you can also do it in version 6).

When I see all the remarks here about PDF creation, that is a better method to create PDF in PagePlus. Don't under estimate Nitro PDF because it is very good and have much more features than PagePlus in PDF creating.

I agree with you, it is easier to create the document first in PagePlus and then use Nitro for PDF creation.

If you need a searchable text you can use the OCR feature in Nitro doing that and then import the text in PagePlus by converting it to PDF and import it in PagePlus. There you can layout the text and create the final PDF with Nitro again by choosing just "Print".

Hope this helps.

Wish you a very nice day.

Friendly greetings,

You can use the OCR feature in PDF-XChange Free Viewer, then open that PDF file in PagePlus. (If you take this route, the text is hidden. Use the layer tab to select it and apply a black fill to display the text. Delete the scanned images to leave just the OCRed text and greatly reduce the file size).

PPX5 or PPX4 are adequate for opening PDF files if you don't need the advanced publishing features and other improvements in PPX6. See my PagePlus Review for a comparison of features.

Bates Numbering is not supported, but there are various security options on PDF publishing to prevent alteration of documents.

Could not a Bates numbering-like effect be created using PagePlus's auto page numbering capabilities?

Arun,

I own version 6 of Nitro Pro and would be very surprised if these items were available even in 7. Though it does have some nice features, for Nitro to tout Pro as an alternative to Adobe Acrobat I find quite misleading as it really is an office-oriented program, NOT a graphics and pre-press oriented program, so does NOT include much of anything needed for these DTP functions that I've seen.
