Default Moirefilter

Hi - can anybody tell me which of the many, many filters or layers I can use to make pictures with raster from newspapers, magazines a.s.o. better to look at?
Paint Shop Pro has a function called Moire pattern. Where can I find this in PP?

You can't as far as I know. My scanner has a filter to reduce Moiré effect, but failing that you can try scanning at different angles, and perhaps superimposing a couple of the images on top of each other (with some transparency on the top one), or using a little blur.

I have not tried this but the help file suggests using the gaussian blur on moire effect. It says to try different radius sizes to see what works best.

Not a moire filter (usually included in scanners and the like), but an excellent free plug-in filter is the free Fourier Transform Plug-in available here. It's a forensic filter, but I think it does a great job at removing the moire pattern - see the example here. It takes a little playing with to get used to how it works - I suggest you also download the fingerprint example too and try it out.

Hope this helps

Hi Ken
thank you very much. It looks like this is the solution. I'm a beginner with PhotoPlus X3 so I will try to get it to work.

To fix some broken links: the Fourier transform plug-in is available through 4N6site.com, the examples can be found there as well.

Broken links? What broken links?? The links in your post are exactly the same as the ones Ken posted three years ago!

I fixed them in the quote, but the ones in the original post from 3 years ago were broken. Confusion solved

More like "confusion introduced"! Your purpose would have been clearer if you had quoted the old posts verbatim. Anyway, thanks for the updated links.
