Default Animated Scroller text

Hi All

I just realised that the 'animated marquee' option that was in previous versions has disappeared in X6. Is there a SIMPLE replacement in X6 I can use?

Is 'sliders' the way to go?

Cheers

Steve

If you have X6 try the slider option and when browsing which one to use as a marquee, try the Solid heading and choose the 2nd one

I've added a second link. I would say you're more likely to reach people who do not have JAVA installed or enabled. The old scrolling marquee used JAVA (not Javascript), I have JAVA disabled as it seems to be a great hiding place for malicious scripts to hide themselves in.

BrainE demonstrated this particular slider in his post here - http://forums.serif.com/showpost.php...1&postcount=25

You can find them via the Assets > Browse > Sliders / Panels.

Tom, thanks for the quick reply.

I've inserted an animated marquee (could not find the Assets you mentioned)but my challenge is that I need to place the marquee over my header image.

Is there a way to select a transparent background?

Thanks,

Lance

Not that I can see in X5. I'd go with the other suggested methods that will allow transparency and use Javascript.

JAVA (as used to drive the animated marquee in X5) should be banned - a malware lovers dream and not all modern computers have it installed.

Some would also think scrolling marquees should be banned.

Lance, you coud use flash for a transparent background or use a slider for a more modern way to present information than scrolling text across the screen.

Hi Lance

Sliders are a new feature in X6.

Go to the Assets tab on the right > Sliders category > click BROWSE > select one or more.

Drag it onto the page and modify it.

See the HELP files and tutorials for more info on sliders.
