Lightbulb Listing Files and Directories and downloading

Hi everyone, perhaps someone can help me, or point me in the right direction.

I want my users to be able to click on a hyperlink which takes them to a directory listing. They could then browse the files and select one to download (ftp like). I cannot find anyway to do what seems to be quite a common thing - can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Simple approach to this, depending on your web host ...

Set up a directory on your site (say "downloads") with the docs in it, then from one or your pages, just put a hyperlink to www.mydomain.com/downloads. Make sure there's no file in there called "index.html" or "index.php" or any of the other standard browse start pages.

As I say, it will depend on the way your host's server is set up, but as a default, linking to the directory itself will present a listing of the directory. Worth a try.

Thanks Martin,
the trouble I am having is that the hyperlink manager in WebPlus 9 seems to want to point to a file and will not allow me to point to a directory.

Peter

1. Select the text or image that's going to be the link
2. Press ctrl-K to get the link dialog
3. Click Create a hyperlink to "An internet page"
4. In "URL address", type "downloads" or whatever the directory is. You may prefer to enter the full URL, but the directory name on its own should work.
