Yes, Audition IS a terrific program but NO, it is most definitely NOT available "only.. as part of an editing suite for video.."

It CAN exist and be purchased as part of the Adobe Creative Suite 6, but it also exists as a free-standing program in its own right. And, despite its admittedly high cost (it was actually sold by Syntrillium to Adobe back in the late 1990s (I think)), writing as someone who has used every version of Audition since 1.5, once you're an "established/registered" user upgrades/updates are pretty reasonable in cost.

FWIW I think that "update" cost is worth every penny!
