Default Dealing with all the pieces

My wife is building a many part movie of her mom. She didn't take any special steps to organize where the pieces are located. Consequently, in order to work on the project she needs to have access to pretty much everything on her computer since MP5 knows where to look for stuff but she doesn't.
It seems like a better approach may have been to create a project library and as she decided to use something she could have moved it into there before telling MP5 about it.
She has a related question. If she ever completes the project and builds an MP4 file, is there any way for MP5 to modify it? It seems likely it would need all the pieces which might mean she should build the project library even at this point.
How have others dealt with this?
Thanks so much...

I do as you mentioned and create a project folder where I put all related videos and such. It makes it easier to put the project together. Once the video is exported. That is a separate file, and can be re-imported into Movieplus. However, it would make more sense to work with the original files to avoid possible quality loss from working with an already compressed file.

gerrycud,
Thanks for the helpful response. Would you recommend she take the time to locate all the components and move them to a project folder when she is very far into the process. Would that time investment pay off assuming this is an important project to her and she may want to make future changes?
Assuming she can locate all the pieces, is it easy to tell MP5 about the new location?
Thanks again..

If you move the components after assembling the project MvP will not automatically keep track of them. When you next open the project you will be asked for the new location of the first item. MvP will then look in that location for all the other components and load from there. Not too much trouble .

miker,
You guys are so great. If I ever learn this stuff I will be sure to help others.
Your suggestion sounds like the simplest approach.

Hi there,

just another suggestion which could make things easier.
As long as you have plenty spare hard drive space it may be more prudent to COPY all of the bits to your new folder instead of moving them.
In this way you have a back-up and could also make it easier for MvP to find them if anything goes astray.

Don't overlook File / Project Media which will give you a list of what's in your project and its location. Keeping a copy of this when you've completed a project can be useful.
