Default How to reduce blockiness of video

Hi,

I will like to ask how to reduce 'blockiness' of video output ..especially when using the old film effect.

Below is a video i did in Movieplus and exported as MP4. Certain parts that used the old film effect becomes rather blockish.

Thanks in advance.

Beautiful animation.

Blockiness is usually caused by low bitrate and mpg compression. How bad is it in your mp4 output? Is it noticeable there or only after YouTube have processed it and probably considerably reduced the bitrate.

Hi Ericinz,

The blockiness was noticeable after converting to MP4.I already set quality of output to high.

Thanks.

Not an answer to your question... but a very impressive video.

Nice movie, clever use of Blender. But it looks as if you have exported this as SD rather than as HD: YouTube is offering me a max resolution of 480p.

You should get sharper results if you export at 720p or perhaps 1080p, and at a higher bitrate.

Yes but what bitrate was your mp4? Try increasing it as RichardS suggests.

I set the bitrate to 768 kbps.

Thanks for the link. Looks like I got quite a bit of information to digest.

Thanks everybody for the help.

That's very low! Try at least 5,000.
