Default cms in selected areas..

Hi. usually i create only static websites..now i am about to start a new project but before i say yes to that. i want to know if it is possibible that he can update text himself due a login. Without the possibilty my homepage gets messed up.
there are 3 texboxes on the homepage for news/updates with a part of text (under that textbox a read more button), the whole text comes on the newspage, content that will be also updated by a 3th person.
That i can do with a iframe however i don't like iframes much.
for so far as i know i can do that with joomla integration or pulse cms, what u guys can advice me doing best .

problem with textboxes are also when u are not familair with wp the text is not displayed correctly on some devices if u fill the whole textbox.

so in short..for my friend: chance content on homepage to some textboxes,
full acces to a news and gallery page..

hope it make sens..in Dutch it is easier to explain

Hi Cappy,

I use Pagelime.com for my CMS, it allows you to select which text or image on a page can be edited.
They have a free version.

Hi,

It is very easy to use for both you & the client.

Set up a site with PL & follow instructions to add a site to be edited.

In your WP file, this is how to place the small bit of code needed into your text box or image code to make it editable in PageLime:

Select the text or image in your WP page you want to make editable, right click & select attach html & paste the code PageLime gives you at the start of the white box immediately before the part that says __AddCode

Here is an example of what it should look like for a text object, the blue part is the code I added, you change the number to identify which text item it is on the page, so Text1, Text2 etc :

id="Text3" class="cms-editable"__AddCode="InsideBorderDiv"

Here is an example for an image.

img id="Image3"class="cms-editable"__AddCode="here"

Then upload your page to the server again once you have added the code for each item you want to edit via PL.

Go to page Lime & refresh the page (assuming you have added it as a page to be edited) & the little black edit box should appear as you hover over the live page view in PL.

Hope that helps.

Hi Cappy,

I believe the Page Lime free version is for commercial use as well, they list it as being 'ideal for personal use' not 'only' for personal use.

If in doubt send them a support email.

I believe you will find PL a lot easier than most other CMS's offered, some other forum members & I did research into CMS options some time back & PL was the most reliable with WP that was also easy for clients to understand.

I use the WebPlus CMS smart object to allow a client to update text. You can hide navigation, hide information lines and disable comments. It's also possible to hide the Administer hyperlink and to prevent a scrollbar appearing.
