So when am I going to get a fix for the non-functioning snapping grid then?

In DrawPlus X4? In my guess, possibly/probably never.

Picture taking. It's a snap!

Good photography. It's complicated.

Well that's bad on Serif's part, they should fix ALL the bugs in existing software as we paid for it to be fully working not half done!

Especially as new versions come out so often nowadays and we shouldn't have to buy new ones to get bugs fixed.

It is this sort of thing that stops Serif Software catching on big time with the pros, the support just isn't there.

It is bad, snap grids are a basic function and has completely frozen my use of the package - as I have already discussed in my review thread. It has been indicated that they would be fixed.

I've taken the easy way out and paid a modest sum for an X5 upgrade. You can bet it will be thoroughly scrutinised!

Same here, I managed to get a 10 off code on top off the 25% off everything for the Upgrade Edition... fantastic bargain and can't wait for it to arrive...

sadly, having tried to work within X5 upgrade and finding so many bugs (even after the patch upgrade) i've had to go back to using X4 for stability and to get my projects finished

my advice? don't uninstall X4 until X5 is finally fixed...

Ouch!

I have to say that was my fear. Announcing a "complete rewrite" is never good news - it only means they've ditched developed code with known bugs and a defect reduction path for a whole new set of unknown bugs.

I had hoped the "complete rewrite" was an exaggeration, but it seems not!

Can new purchasers of X5 (like myself) get access to X4?

No, but the starter edition is based on X4 if that helps. Why would you wish to?

Because (anecdotally) X4 is more stable for production use than the current patch version of X5.

I have issues with X4 - in particular the grids don't work. I have yet to try X5 but I'm hoping at least they've sorted that out.

Hi Rob, are you currently experiencing any problems with X5? If so, please make a post on the forums explaining your problem and then I can examine it for the next patch.

I have recently re-formatted my comp and now I cant open any saved work in DP4, when I spoke to Serif they tell me I will have a problem with Windows 7.
I didnt have a problem prior to re-formatting, all worked well, does anyone have an answer please.

Dennis.

Hiya Dennis

You should have absolutely no problems with X4 and windows 7 it was released when windows 7 was out and works fine.

They tried the same trick on me with another program telling me it wouldn't work with windows 7 and I should upgrade (despite me using it for 6 months with no problems on windows 7 )

I STILL use DPX4 with windows 7 for the past year with no problems I wish they would stop allowing their staff to spout these lies and nonsense.

It even says 'Windows 7' on the box !!

let me quote..

"Works great with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista and XP."

Andy
