Question export issue re:quality

Hi. I'm using MoviePlusX5. I've created my first project and exported it only to find quality was somewhat poor. The problem I have is the scrolling credits (even if I use one of the sample projects with scrolling credits). I export to FILE, a high quality PAL export mp4. The video defaults to a small mp4 box on screen and when I resize the video, the quality is soft, not crisp as expected for HD. I have also exported the same project as youtube,720p, 1080p etc, mpeg/AVI, both with the best quality option selected. Although, the quality from these exports is very good, the scrolling credits either "judders" up the screen (youtube) or it scrolls smoothly up the screen but with a rippling effect in the text (mpeg etc)!
Can anyone please help me get to the bottom of this problem as all I want to do is have a high quality, HD video export

Gaz

AHHHHAAAAAA!. I carried on digging and found that the only way to get around any rippling, juddering is to export to FILE as WMV (720p). but am I able to upload this type of file to facebook, youtube etc ?

I have never found scrolling text to look very good using MvP, so have opted for separate text screens with cross fades between them. Obviously large text is better and some fonts also tend to look better, i.e. those with constant stroke widths.

I'd be interested to hear of others' experiences.

I've no problem with scrolling text when using exports with PAL 50i. But 25p is another matter as it gives jerkiness especially with sideways motion across the screen. 25 frames per sec isn't enough to fool the average human eye/brain. Maybe NTSC 30 frames is better. 50p would be the ideal and some cameras shoot in this nowadays and I understand the Blu-ray specs for AVCHD now includes 50p so hopefully Blu-ray will eventually.

Here's a quick demo made using MvPx5.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NonWo_T2prg

Exported using the default Youtube PAL 720p template, then fixed for fast-start streaming.

Napa Heavy SF font at 36 point. With the effects shown in my screenshot.

And they are jerky. But pretty smooth compared to others that I've seen on Youtube.

Same project, exported from MvPx6 in NTSC mode.

The background video started as 25fps PAL AVCHD, so will not have been improved by this change of frame rate.

But at ~30fps, the scrolling of the credit text does look perhaps a little smoother.

well, as in my second post, I am going to stick with exporting as WMV @ 720p for now. It looks very good in this format. As a WMV at least it's supported for upload to sites like YouTube, Facebook etc

interesting to note though what other issues have been experienced by others. I do recommend trying WMV

thanks people
