Default printer color samples

I often need to match a color already printed on an item. Here's a 36-page page plus document that shows each of the color sample blocks you see on the SWATCH tab PALETTE. Print one out for each of your color printers and you'll have a good starting point from which to start trying to match an existing printed color.

I think that's brilliant and will be of great use to a lot of people. I'd suggest you also put a post in the Community Plus forum with the file as that is guaranteed to be there..

Are these like the colour sheets they used to give out with PP or PhP, I can't remember which?

I got one with a much earlier version of PP - still got it somewhere.

These are printed on your printer, so will shew the colour you will get with home printing on that printer. The Serif ones shewed the actual Pantone colour you would get from a professional printshop, even though what you saw on screen or from your home printer might be rather different.

Jack,

The sheets you're thinking of came with PagePlus (8 of 9?) and were printed on an offset press, one on matte paper, the other on coated. These were to show how your on-screen swatches would reproduce on-press.

The file provided by the OP is for output to a desktop printer as a reference showing how your on-screen swatches will reproduce on your particular printer.

Geoff,

IIRC, those were CMYK swatches based on the CMYK palette in PP which offered swatch names such as "Serif-01".

Bill,

You are probably correct. I've got them somewhere lying around, but my physical retrieval system is no better than my mental one.

Bill,

My physical retrieval system turns out to be much better - as good as your mental one!
