Smile How to fade video and music track in and out?

Hello,
I have one continuous song playing throughout my video. I have muted the audio playing in the many clips so that only the song is heard.
I'd like to "turn down" the music song playing during a couple of clips, and "turn up" the audio in the video, where a person is talking, so you can hear what they say. And then, resume back to louder music with the song.

What are the technical terms for this and how may I do it?
Any and all help appreciated.

Hiya, Ronin

Welcome to the forums and the Serif family.

See the screenshot below. You will lay your voice track over your music track.

- select the music track
- select volume
- select 'show keyframe'
- then, adjust the volume controls to be softer when the voice over is active, and a bit louder when the voice over segment ends.

Hey thank you! It's not really a voice over. I am splicing together 10 videos, most of which are action shots, where I have muted the video audio. There are 2 videos where someone is talking, and I wanted the music to play quietly during those, with the video audio louder, and then revert back to muted for the next video clip.
Would I need to essentially export the whole video clip as an audio track somehow, and then overlay it on top of the video track and music track (total of 3 tracks now?)

Ah! I asked too soon. I see what you mean now, I can change all the audio through keyframes. Thank you thank you so much! I was beating my head on my laptop all day trying to figure it out. For some reason, the way the help guide was written wasn't as straightforward as I needed. I think the image you sent really helped because I am a very visual person. Thanks!!! Serif should include step by step instructions WITH visuals as you have done!

Glad that's getting sorted for you!

and thank you for this....to restate that the visual is very useful. You might also want to add in the note that you can click on the audio line and drag it up and down from and to where you want it to go. It is a piece of cake to fade in and out..I am using this to blend around narration elements. Cool stuff and thanks again for your clarification
