Default Compare PP x5 with Adobe CS5

Hi there,

1. What is it that CS5 will do that PP x5 will not be able to do?

2. I hve started a new marketing business and would like to do my own marketing material. A friend of mine suggested the Adobe Suite (Adobe Cs5, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc. If i need a better comparison of these products will I have to buy PP x5, Webplus, Drawplus, Photoplus, Movieplus? Is it that simple, are the comparision as simplistic as that?

Somebody out there with knowledge on these matters?

Are you made of money? Adobe's stuff buys acceptability from "the professional community". At a shocking price. The full latest Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium (PC) has a suggested price of 1,810.80 (which often discounts to around 1250-1300).
Serif's affordable programs produce the finished work. Luciano, who's a regular here, designs postage stamps, very nice ones, and I really can't think of more demanding precision printing work.
The invaluable Adobe program is Acrobat Pro for tweaking PDFs.

Empty your current account

I am sure there are other things, but I think we would need to focus on specifics that you need to do, and tell you if its possible in PP, DP, WP, or PhotoPlus.

See my PagePlus review, and download the free version (based on PPX4) to get a preview of the interface, which hasn't changed much for PPX5, although it has a lot more features.

Thanks for the replies,

We are producing our first monthly newspaper (50 000) copies which will be printed professionally. Photos need to be emmbeded, converted into CMYK space, with minimum 300dpi. Sho! I am now starting to grasp the terminology!!
Pages need to be submitted individually as pdf.
No RGB, four colour plate - forgot the whole spec at the office, sorry.

Big project. PagePlus will handle the production side fine, just publish the finished publication as PDF using the PDF/X1-a option.
If people here can help, we will.

I started using PPx5 about 4 months ago, after being out of the printer business for about 20 years. After giving myself a crash course in dtp, so far I have designed a newsletter (20k copies) and some flyers (2500-5000 copies).

With the pdf/x1-a spec, everything came out perfectly.

PPx5 has some quirks, but overall it works like a charm.
