Default Webplus.net Hosting Upload Update

Hi,

We've completed some upgrade work on Webplus.net today which should improve upload and hosting performance for our Webplus.net users - as well as enabling us to add extra new features in the future.

Everything is now working, but there has been an unanticipated side effect which I would like to explain.

Previously, the FTP server which you connected to to upload your websites was, for example "something.webplus.net". This has now become "ftp.something.webplus.net".

Webplus.net users should update their FTP settings in one of these two ways:

1.) If you use Webplus to upload your website, simply press the "Add FTP Account" button in your hosting control panel. Webplus will automatically update your settings for you.

2.) If you use a third party FTP upload tool, you will need to change the FTP hostname from "something.webplus.net" to "ftp.something.webplus.net".

Please note that if you have a domain attached to your account, and already upload to "ftp.yourdomain.com", you will not need to change anything.

Please accept our apologies for this change - it was unavoidable and we should have noticed that sooner. We will be contacting all Webplus.net users shortly via email to offer more detailed instructions / support for anyone who cannot make the changes themselves.

Thanks,

Andy Somerfield

Thanks for this update and for the plan to contact all users.

Looking forward to discovering these "extra new features."

Hi all,

We're looking into some permission issues with uploading - should be a quick fix. I'll let the thread know once we're done.

Thanks,

If this is your site, it is up and running. It is customary to include a site link vvhen asking for help

http://actionconditioning.webplus.net/

I vvould suggest that instead of expecting folks to open an email client to submit a form to you that you use the free Serif VVeb Resources or another form handling script.

And, vvelcome to the Serif forums.

Hi all,

Apologies for not getting back to you last night - the permissions issue was solved shortly after my last post and as far as we know, everything is working properly now.

Thanks,

It's so long since I did this...

Where's my "hosting control panel"?

Is it in WebPlus, in the forum, somewhere else?

Where, please?

Default Detailed solution

To save others from having to ring the help desk...

From within WebPlus X4...

Take File
>Publish Site
>Publish to Web
>Accounts
>Edit
>add "ftp." (without the quotes) to the front of the ftp address.

Webplus.net uploads seem to be working here.

Questions:

1. Are you uploading to a subdomain.webplus.net, or to your own domain name?

2. Have you changed the FTP setting from "subdomain.webplus.net" to "ftp.subdomain.webplus.net"?

3. Can you connect OK using WPx4's "Maintain website" tool or a separate FTP program?

1. Using actionconditioning.webplus.net
2. Have changed the FTP setting to ftp.actionconditioning.webplus.net
3. I CANNOT connect via maintain website tool... comes up with "could not open or create remote folder"

Thanks for this - I also received an e-mail, which was really helpful. The first thing I did was visit the forum and now I'm up and running again . This is such a great community.
