Default How many images and what order to scan

Hi,

How many images can I scan - have a large dress pattern - and what order? I am having problems. I scanned the front of a jacket in 10 images and all but 1 will stitch.

thanks

I have no idea as to the exact number, but I'd presume... "several".

Theoretically, any order and any orientation - landscape, portrait, upside down, sideways....

There must be enough overlap in your scans for SSS to be able to find enough matching points to be able to decide which edges of which scans are supposed to be "connected". Try rescanning that one section and the adjacent sections but with more "overlap"; maybe a minimum of 20 - 30% overlap.

Picture taking. It's a snap!

Good photography. It's complicated.

thanks Jim. I rescanned my pattern - I realised my problem - althought I had enough overlap (20 to 30%) - the problem with the 1 image - there was a blank area, so nothing to stitch.
I now have another problem or two:
when I try to save the image as jpeg - it takes a while - 63 blocks of blending - once it finishes stitiching, I cannot do any enhancements and also, I cant open the jpeg.

any thoughts/suggestions/advice?

cheers

I have had the problems with stitching before, but I never had a problem opening the resulting JPG. I guess that makes the software useless for you.

Try Microsoft's Image Composite Editor (Freeware), and see if that gives a good result. It works well for me and is much faster than SSS. Just drag and drop your scans to the ICE window.
