Smile Serif Launches PhotoPlus X6!

Good morning all,

We are very excited to announce the arrival of PhotoPlus X6, our most powerful photo editing solution ever!

The award-winning Serif PhotoPlus allows users of all levels of experience to achieve anything from the essentials of photo editing through to more challenging, professional and creative enhancements. With an intuitive interface and help panels throughout, PhotoPlus X6 helps you to achieve outstanding results, all at an affordable price. This latest version has taken a technological leap forward with the inclusion of the brand new 64-bit Engine, using 64-bit technology to enable smoother handling of larger image sizes with even faster results, even when editing Raw images with multiple layers. Other new features include the Smart Selection Brush with edge refinement technology, non-destructive image cropping, high-end improvements in the Raw Studio, and creative enhancements including the tilt-shift effect.

PhotoPlus X6 also boasts powerful legacy features like 16-bits-per-channel end-to-end image handling, HDR merging, non-destructive adjustments, professional blend modes, Photofix for fast results and the efficient Organizer to keep track of your growing photo collection.

With a wealth of outstanding features, professional tools and an intuitive interface all at an amazing price, PhotoPlus X6 is the first choice for digital photo editors at any level.

New feature headlines are as follows:
  • NEW 64-bit Engine Technology – Now featuring a powerful 64-bit engine at its core, allowing the handling of much larger image sizes and processing of tasks much faster than ever before! This new technology uses all the available memory of your computer when running on Windows Vista/Windows 7 64-bit making PhotoPlus much more productive when handling very large images such as Raw files. Additionally, PhotoPlus can now handle complex edits using dozens of layers without the risk of running out of memory. Even computers with very little RAM can now load and edit large or complex images as the engine will intelligently switch to use Windows virtual memory.
  • Re-engineered Raw Studio – Now with faster operation and convenient in-place photo adjustments including white balance, lighting adjustments, colour correction, lens corrections and noise reduction. With the new 64-bit Engine, the Raw Studio can also now load very large images faster than ever before. You can now create masks to make and control adjustments in specific areas, fix red eye or crop and repair images, all directly in the Raw Studio interface.
  • NEW Smart Selection Brush – Create fast accurate selections with control over grow bias and smoothness. The smart selection brush will use your input and automatically grow your selection to object boundaries.
  • NEW Smart edge refinement – Improve an existing selection by using smart edge refinement to perfect the selection boundary, ready for adjustments.
  • NEW Non-destructive crop – A fantastic improvement to the crop tool which allows you to re-crop at a later stage of editing. PhotoPlus X6 keeps all the cropped data so you need never worry about losing parts of your photo.
  • NEW Tilt-Shift – Create amazing depth of field effects with the brand new Focus filter. Produce stunning miniature effect images or tilt shift with complete control of blur and saturation.
  • NEW Vector Masks – Create vector masks that give you fully editable smooth curves for masking layers or adjustments
  • NEW Fill Layers – Fill Layers allow you to fill a layer with a solid colour or gradient and adjust them after creation.
  • Improved Noise reduction – Reduce noise in images using the latest noise removing technology. The improved filter analyses your image for frequency noise and removes unwanted artifacts like ISO sensor noise.
  • Increased zoom range – PhotoPlus’ zoom range has been doubled to improve detailed editing of large images or icon creation.
  • Improved guides – User guides are now sub-pixel to provide better accuracy. Guides can now be dragged out from the ruler area or placed accurately with the Alt modifier.

If you have any questions or comments, please post them in the PhotoPlus forum.

Kind regards,

Hannah Tomlinson
