Default Why can't I hyperlink to a smart object?

I can insert smart objects into a page, but I cannot hyperlink to those same SWR objects.

When I try to hyperlink to them, no smart objects are shown in the panel (see attached photos).

Need to be able to make this work by opening the smart object in a frame.

but this is what I get when trying to insert a hyperlink to the same smart object:

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING, probably something I am missing . . . unless it is a reported bug I missed or forgot.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You can hyperlink to other appropriate smart objects but not to News smart objects. I would say it is a bug but it's the same in X4 and X5.

Hyperlink to 'Internet page' and insert the URL of the smart object from the source code.

Thanks.

Makes no sense why Serif would not allow it, as the "news" object seems to be the simplest of the smart objects but then again, it's their choice.

The suggested work around does work, and I had already done it . . . just trying to do it a different way. Thanks again!

Hyperlinks can target the type of objects that were thought likely to be wanted in their own page as they don't display very well in a frame: Forums, Blogs, etc. I guess News wasn't thought likely to be used that was, so it wasn't included.

No worries. The work around does the trick.
