Default .svg files

Hi
Im using an older version of draw plus version 8. Im wondering if newer versions have the ability to save files as an .svg?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, DPX5 does — I am not sure if DPX4 introduced it first. Not all features available in DrawPlus can be exported to the SVG format, but the export dialogue warns you about this.

Edit: I have some SVG images created with DrawPlus 11, which is DPX4.

Yes, its possible, but what would be the point of converting JPG bitmap images to a vector format?

The JPG image I tested with was 144 Kbytes, the SVG export was over 2.5 Mbytes

HI
I convert them so that they can then be used with a plotter. Once the lines in images have a clean line, they can be traced and saved as an .svg which works with the plotter that i use.

Thanks for your help.

You would have to autotrace the JPG bitmap in DrawPlus, then export the traced vector outlines to SVG.

Depending on the source image, and the level of detail required, autotrace can produce some very complex vector images. If your images are logos it may be workable.

Here's an archive of a JPG image and the SVG image produced from it using Autotrace (Photo quality) and Export to SVG.

HI Bhikkhu

Thanks for your replies. There is an auto trace in my version that i have. Would be interested to know if the toll has been upgraded, or is still the same?

Thanks

Hi Tony,

The AutoTrace got a complete overhaul in DPX3 (or X4) and is much faster and far more versatile than the one in DP8.

Hope this helps.
