Default Impact Plus and Windows 7 ?

Will Impact Plus install on the Windows 7 OS? Anyone have any experience in trying that installation? Thanks:

IP 5 has been discontinued for a while (a year or two or more?), and very few people who (still) use it post here.

As to working with Win 7... this chart says that IP 5 has not been tested with Win 7, but it might work anyway.

Haven't played with it for quite a while, but it loads and runs on Win 7 (I have win7 64 bit), haven't found any obvious defects with the program, that said it is a program from 2004 so can't compete with todays animation programs.

If you already own it, it can be fun to play with, it wouldn't auto install but navigating the CD to the set-up application and double clicking that allowed it to install, it throw up the odd windows error occasionally but that doesn't seem to affect the program.one other thing I did was to right click the program and set it to run as WindowsXp SP2 mode.

Many thanks Jim and Andy.

I'll give it a try. (One thing though, I really don't know anything on how to set up the XP SP2 mode.) I may come back to you ond that.

"I'll give it a try. "

Well, I did. No problem installing IP 5 and its resource disk. I tried the samples, and the animated ones all seem to work OK. I had toyed with the programme when I had Win XP. I remember doing some interesting things, but now, I'll have to re-learn I guess; it's been too long since I haven't used IP 5.

Why SERIF doesn't explain the reason for letting go of this jewel is dumfounding! to say the least. Serif usually shows much more respect for the users of its programmes.

What does it take to insert the checkmark in the tested programmes list (given by Jim in the previous posts).

I'd presume that IP was discontinued due to (very) low sales.

It seems to me that there have been more posts in the IP forum after IP was ended, than during the product's entire lifetime.

I had IP. I never could figure out what to do with it, or how to do it. Yeah, IP could do a lot of neat stuff, but I just didn't have any use for it.

Problem is you cannot buy it now anyway. Perhaps Serif should burn off a few CDs and sell them for a few bucks so us curious could try it

Not so, they had some in the back room earlier this year. Just contact Serif.

I have just installed ImpactPlus5 on my Win7 64bit computer and it worked straight off, no problems. I want to do an introductory animation for a video, so learning it again (about the 3rd or 4th time)

If High impact 5 was discontinued so long ago it is no wonder Serif gives it away. It is a nightmare to install. I have windows 7, but it appears the activation email is hard to receive and after several day of waiting, asking them for help and serif. Then getting nowhere.

A terrible fuss to get at what looks like an interesting program.

Why Serif allows such a program is anyones guess.

If anyone has a way to get an ctivation email please feel free to assist.
I cant find any place to use The unlock code that serif supplied yet.

High Impact 5 is being distribute to most who get WebPlu X5 and is a very different program.

Please go to the WebPlus forum and the HighImpact 5 thread to get some help.

High Impact 5 is still current. High impact is an E-mail program, created by TemplateZone, not Serif.

This section of the forum, and thread, is about Serif's ImpactPlus which is a 3D drawing program.

Serif is giving High Impact Email away as a promotional item. But the software seems to be somewhat less than "user friendly".

Hiya Kennith

Welcome to the Serif forums.

My goodness you've been busy on the forums just now.

If you contact Serif sales and ask them to check out the back room, I suspect they will find and sell you the discontinued Impact Plus.

I have ImpactPlus 5 on a 64bit Windows 7 OS. It works pretty good, but if I get too detailed in some of my things then it has a tendency to crash on me. Im not sure if its the program, or if its my OS because I've had other problems with it as well.

I run ImpactPlus 5 on a Win7 64bit and haven't had any problems BUT I wouldn't say that I give it any huge workout.

High Impact 5 is NOT the same program as ImpactPlus5. They are totally different products!

O.K.... I want Serif to bring back IP. I've looked around at other 3D programs, and they are just too hard for me to pick up on. I liked how IP was laid out and frankly, don't wish to quit using it.

Let me know if you agree or not.

I use it occasionally. I agree, I have great fun using it, when I have time to play and get some very usable results. I used it to create a short video introduction to the video of my daughter's wedding, which I subsequently created from still photos with MvPX3

Thats one of the things that I enjoy... They have a special format in it (.STV) that permits you to use it in the MoviePlus programs (at least x3 & x5) so that it could overlay it with out going through the extra steps of Chromakey.
