Hiya Ross

Welcome to the Serif forums.

Are you using DrawPlus? If so, which version?

This thread will be moved to the DrawPlus forum below.

Help documentation indicates it's only available for Windows XP users.

Ross,

From DrawPlus X5 help:

Quote:
Screensaver (Windows XP users only)
If you're working with keyframe animations, you also have the option of creating a screensaver file (.scr). Your Windows XP-compatible exported file can be used on your computer (as for any screensaver file) or for distribution to friends and family equally.

To create a screensaver:
Choose Export>Export as Screensaver... from the File menu.

From the Save As dialog, enter a screensaver file name and save to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ for the screensaver to be viewable and enabled.

In the next dialog, provide a title and contents for your screensaver's About box, then click the OK button.

Click the Save button. You'll see an export progress dialog appear until the screensaver file is created.

To enable the Screensaver:
Right-click on your Windows Desktop background and select Properties.

From the dialog, select the Screen Saver tab.

Select your screensaver from the Screen Saver drop-down list.

(Optional) Use the Wait input box to set an idle duration before your screensaver will be displayed.
Perhaps the option to save as .scr only appears if you are using Windows XP (I'm using Windows 7).

The help file is wrong, there is no option to export as scr in DPX5. It is available in DPX4 but seems to have been removed for DPX5 but without updating the text in the help file. Perhaps because scr is not available in Win 7?

I'm using WinXP

As Ken has found, export as screensaver is not available in DrawPlus X5 despite being in the 'Help' documentation.

It is available in DrawPlus X3 and DrawPlus X4.

Okay thanks Archibald thanks Ken

Its a shame the option was removed , never mind I have since found a free software called instantstorm and worked a treat so I now have my keyframe as my screensaver and also now realize it looks rubbish.

Thanks guys
try not to dodge me next time I come on .
Thanks again thanks very much.....

I found it at the begining of creating a keyframe animation. In the screen section, both options are there to create a normal or widescreen screensaver.

It is not in export but at the beginning.

Donald,

Are you referring to the normal and widescreen options in Page Setup?

If not, what do you mean by "at the beginning"?

Doesn't that just set the dimensions of the animation (in pixels)?

It does not save the an animation in a form that can be used as a screensaver.

You're right Archibald, I jumped before I Leeeaped. Sorry. I don't see how to make a screensave by exporting either.
