Default How To Paste As New Image Onto Transparent Background?

When I Paste As New Image I get a white background to the image, is there anyway to get a transparent background (I'm pasting an Ellipse)?

If you copy something which already has a transparent background, 'Paste As New Image' should retain the transparency. For an image which doesn't have transparency, right-click the Background Layer on the Layers tab and choose 'Promote to Layer'; this will convert it to a Standard Layer which supports transparency. You can then select the white background area(s) with the Magic Wand Tool, after which you just need to press the Delete key on your keyboard to get transparency in the selected region.

I use the CutOut Studio to make a background transparent and then File > Export Optimizer and select 32 bit PNG or GIF as the export file type. Both support transparency.
