MoviePlus X5: Update Announcement (7.0.2)

Dear All.

Serif (Europe) Ltd. is announcing the release of an update for the English Language MoviePlus X5 (build number 7.0.2.18).

The main purpose of the build is to resolve issues discovered since the release of MoviePlus 7.0.1, for which we apologise. As well as a number of minor fixes, this update addresses the following major issues. Many are phrased in the negative from our database but are nevertheless fixed.

Crashes:
Crash when deleting item from media pane
Crash when replacing library item on startup on XP
Intermittent crash on startup
Crash when deleting Noise Reduction / Stabilise keyframe

Import:
Pre-render doesn't work for file which needs 3rd party codec
Waveform not displayed for 24 bit WAV file
Proxy files recreated/duplicated when clocks go forward
DV capture ignores "Split files by scene" option

Rendering:
Edge jitter on portrait pan & zoom

Export:
Failure to burn to AVCHD ("The operation failed - fatal error")
Menu rendering fails with empty chapter label
YouTube upload fails if there are any single-character tags
Export aspect ratio warning not displayed when exporting to WMV
Clip chapter points created in storyboard don't strip file extension
Selected text object not rendered when burning directly to disc

User Interface:
Dragged clips snap to original position of rippled clips
Can't move Preview Pane splitters while full screen preview is active
Transform tool unselected when undoing any insert command
Rippling is inhibited if mouse moves over another track while dragging a clip
Clips shouldn't snap to invisible selection markers
Transform tool on empty track is hidden when timeline changes
View > Panes > Preview is disabled when full screen preview is active

Improvements:
Add wide screen multimedia project templates
More descriptive disc burning error messages
Improve accuracy of export template matching
Add registry entries to override proxy options and max helper file sizes for all users
Add registry entry to allow disabling of audio device change detection

We would recommend that ALL users of MoviePlus X5 English download and install this file. Serif recommend that updating should be done within the program, by using the "Check for update from web" option in the Help Menu. This will always get any available update for your version of Serif software (DVD or download) and install it too. The downloads page www.serif.com/downloads.asp has the file also, which is 6.15 MB.

To work out if you need this update choose "About MoviePlus" in the help menu and if the version number is 7.0.1.15 or less and you are running the English version then you need this update. Helpfully the software checks for updates the first time it runs, so for those yet to install a CD, the latest update will be found on first use if needed.

I accidentally installed the German version instead of the English version and now it won't allow me to install the English version even though I have downloaded the file - can someone help me get English?

Hi Alan,

You need to uninstall the German version before you install the English version. If you still can't install English after uninstalling German, please let me know. A screenshot of any errors you received would also be useful.

Patch wont install for me I just get the error below



I have looked at the fonts myself and I can access them OK

I also tried downloading file and running as admin but still no luck.

Its typical as I first pointed out the jittering edges on my slideshow and this update fixes it

This has arisen on a previous occasion and may be down to some confusion within your registry as to where the path for the system fonts are being stored.
Please extract the attached file to your desktop and run the registry fix enclosed therein.
Accept the alteration to the registry and you should then be able to run the installation of the patch following the fix.

Thank you, that worked a treat....

Really appreciate you taking the time to make that fix for me. The update is also excellent and makes the shaking sides of my slideshows much smoother although there is still a tiny bit present but hardly noticeable now

I use MoviePlus for my photography slideshows which I offer to my customers and they love them. Anyone wants to see some they can be found here

These are low quality for the web but the original is high quality

I tried other software but MoviePlus wipes the floor with them and as with other Serif software I use (DrawPlus, WebPlus) it just gets the job done well with no fuss so thank you for that to

I'm afraid this update isn't available in German yet. When it is, you will be able to get it from the Help > Check For Updates option within MoviePlus.

There's no solid date yet, I'm afraid. By default the program checks for updates every 7 days (Tools > Options > General). Ensure that option is still enabled and you will get the update automatically once it's available.

No, I'm afraid you can't apply the English update to the German version of the program. Unfortunately the patch still isn't available in German yet, but it is in the pipeline.

I'm pleased to say that the German update is now available. If you use the Check For Updates option on the Help menu in MoviePlus then you will get the correct update for your version.
