Default BB Code - Question About Image Resizing

Hi. This is slightly OT but I figure that BBCode for Web Plus forums might be slightly different. I want to resize an Image using forum BBCode. I've tried: (without stars)

Yes.

EDIT: I was just using it as an example. Lazy one. It works as a normal embedded image.

I doubt you could do change image sizes in the phpBB Forum running on SWR.

You could try the BBCode tags reference page to see if the Image (resized) example works. If it doesn't then I'm afraid you're out of luck.

I've tried those... :S

Does anyone know ANY other way to do this? Like with any other type of code? For instance, HTML code for resizing the image? I will do anything to try and get this to work!!

Resize the image before you upload it.

That isn't a solution - the problem is that I need to resize images INSIDE the post structure, not beforehand. I want my pictures to be as good quality as possible and don't want to have to upload in 5 different sizes.

If you want the images smaller they images will have to be resized somewhere, possibly by the site visitor's browser.

There are options for good quality resizing: using WebPlusX5 with resampling set to 'Best quality', using Lanczos resampling in PhotoPlus or using Irfanview.

I'm intrigued: why 5 different sizes?

Could you use the blog or CMS smart objects which do allow you to specify image size?

Otherwise, it looks like you will have to find another forum (but your host will probably need to support PHP and mySQL).

My Host already needs to support (and does) PHP and mySQL.

I know they will have to be resized somewhere - I'm asking how to do that in the forum.

I don't want to resize these images outside of the Forum - I have plenty of tools for me to do that if I so desire.

5 different sizes, for different places and things - Thumbnail, bigger shot, full size, and then a big size for other places I frequent.

And no, I couldn't use the blog or CMS Smart Objects because I am using the forum - it's a forum. I want a Forum, not a blog or CMS.

You seem to be doing a lot of shouting here when when others who are trying to help you are asking legitimate questions, and posing alternative solutions. Please dont be rude.

I use Caps Lock for EMPHASIS. See? Not shouting, but EMPHASIS.

Like bold. If you would like, I could change all of my "shouting" to "bold letters" if it makes a difference?

I have read the entire thread and it seems to me that you are being informed that what you want to do is NOT (for emphasis!) possible in an SWR forum (which is a very basic type of forum, anyway). It has been suggested that you would be better off installing a more advanced forum on your own host (PHP and MySQL required, which you have - good!) and configuring that to suit your purposes. If I have misinterpreted any messages here, I am sure I'll be corrected.
