If you're really so behind, would it make such a big difference if you were a bit further behind?

Great begin Civiliza.
You can also export the model created with Sculptris into the wide supported (but by IP) obj-format and so import it into your preferred 3D rendering/animation software.
Here a few examples created with Scuptris and then rendered in Carrara:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/deekaybe/6391254395/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/deekaybe/6443599647/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/deekaybe/6869279246/

You can also rig such an object (meaning, attach a sort of skeleton to the object that allows to animate it):
http://www.flickr.com/photos/deekaybe/6512366595/
(The explosions I created using IP and added to the clip in MoviePlus).

I also posted a movie showing how I created a hippo head in 10 minutes. It is not really a tutorial, but it gives a quick overview of the Sculptris basic commands.

The pictures were great and I have watched half the hippo tutorial - that's really amazing, like working with plasticine digitally!

Hi Ada43Lee

Welcome to the Serif forums.

What's a bit more capable? And, which Serif software do you use?

Very good, they (and particularly the hippo head) show what is possible when you know where you are going and are prepared to stick to your guns.

I am used to thinking in terms of 2D false perspective and would have been tempted to make the face beyond the nostrils narrower. As your work shows though when you get the 3D proportions right, there is no need to force the perspective.

I'm starting to get the hang of using Bryce, and particularly the Instancing feature. I used it to create this forest.

Interestingly enough, I had to double the sun's brightness to make it look like a normal sunny day. ‹shrug›

Thanks, Marilyn. I doubt that I will ever do anything really detailed because I simply don't have the patience to wait four or five hours for a rendering to complete. ;-)

That looks great, almost like a photograph.
All it needs now is a carpet of blue to produce an English "Bluebell Wood"!
