Default Announcing WebPlus X4

Hello everyone!

Serif is delighted to announce the launch of WebPlus X4, the latest and greatest version of our award-winning web design software. WebPlus X4 is the easiest, most flexible and cost-effective way to make a unique and fully-featured website for any small to medium businesses, organisations and home users. This all-in-one solution for website design handles all HTML behind the scenes, offers creation of attractive graphics, powerful photo editing, e-commerce, stylish and functional site navigation, smart web features like forums and site security, videos, podcasts and news feeds, and even free hosting.

Some of the great new features and benefits in this latest release include:
  • Content Management: This user-requested features allows you (or others with a login) to edit sections of a page, or sections of a site from within a browser, without WebPlus X4 – ideal for colleagues or clients keeping a site up to date. New content can be tied to navbars so site navigation updates on the fly as new articles are created.
  • Great Photo Editing: Correct and enhance images using professional tools and effects in the new PhotoLab to give your pictures the look you want without the need to open a separate photo editing program – and remove backgrounds for great product shots or other focused images with the Cutout Studio.
  • New Flash® Photo Galleries and Flash NavBars: New Flash photo galleries offer greater level of customisation and much larger photo collections, now powered by SlideShowPro. WebPlus 10 and WebPlus X2 galleries are resurrected with improved speed. Slick new Flash navigation bars, also with more customisation than ever, give visitors a professional browsing experience.
  • Google™ Technologies Built In: Add Google Maps without using HTML code, make money with Google AdSense targeted adverts, and get advanced detail on your visitor stats with support for Google Analytics to help improve your site.
  • Designer Colour Schemes: The new colour scheme designer is the ideal way to theme your site and give it a makeover. Simply choose from a range of colour models, like complementary or analogous, and the colour scheme designer creates a beautiful set of colours in just a click or two.
  • Online Booking System: A calendar-based online booker lets site visitors reserve accommodation, a table, meeting room, piece of equipment, sports field – anything – with email confirmation and other options.
  • New Layout Features: Dynamic layout guides for semi-automated design neatness, and DTP-style linking of text and other objects in a layout so their relative positions are maintained, give you easier, more powerful capabilities for page design.
  • Get Online Faster: WebPlus X4 includes 18 months free Webplus.net hosting, with easy account activation built right in to WebPlus. The new QuickBuilder offers drag and drop creation of popular web page elements, and new QuickPublish uploads your current page to your WebPlus.net or other preferred host with a single click.
  • Learning Zone with Videos: Easily accessible from the redesigned Startup Wizard where you can open templates, ‘How-To’ topics, printable tutorials, videos, and much more.
  • E-Commerce Improvements: The revamped e-commerce wizard now offers up to 10 product variant choices, one of which can affect the price, and in the US PayPal® weight-based shipping is also supported.
  • Improved Compatibility: Open and edit WebPlus X4 files in WebPlus X2 (with limitations where new features are used), and now import Word 2007 and OpenOffice.org documents, even with pictures.
  • And More: These headlines aren’t the only changes; in addition to other new features, the development team have improved usability in many areas and made WebPlus faster and more robust than ever.

What is "Offer"?

The "Upgrade" page says "WebPlus X4 Offer". What is that?

Exactly what it says "OFFER" priced at £49.99 as an upgrade and not £79.99 as on the main page

Hi Dale,
Great work!
At the bottom of the 'features-list' page the button takes you back to the WebPlus page and starts to play the overview sound track but not the video. Clickiing the Video and Screen Shots button on the WebPlus page starts up the overview video and sound track so two out-of-sync sound tracks are spoiling the presentation ,

This product will be the best Chistmas present anyone with internet could hope for!

Default Maybe An Error In WP X4 Web Page.

There might be an error on this WebPlus product description page.

On the left side of the page, scroll down to the "Great Compatibility" section, then see...

Quote:
Design for any browser
See one-click previews in any installed browser

Design for any browser
Import over 20 popular image types including JPG, PNG and Adobe® Photoshop® PSD
The title "Design for any browser" is repeated, but that might be intentional, too.

Added: I've just finished reading the WP X4 description/product pages. WP X4 seems to be nicely done, Serif!

Added, added: WP X4, the printed resource guide, the templates 1 & 2, and the premium content collection are now on order for postal delivery.

Hi Ali,
I noticed a number of very minor bugs (simple things like not being able to click out of text boxes in wizards, having to tab instead, that sort of thing) wondered where to post the bug report.

If you make a new thread, someone from "Serif Europe Limited" will be sure to see it. You can also go to Support & Learning>Contact Us and let them know of your bug.

Flamin' typical!
Yesterday, I could reproduce the problem every time I created an E commerce object. Today, no ruddy problem.

I should have done a system restart yesterday to check consistency.

False alarm, sorry folks.

great start to a new forum, eh?
