There probably isn't an active serif.co.uk site. Instead they have a .com with an automatic redirection if you try .co.uk as presumably they also own that site. It's very different to the situation Sandy is thinking off. Apart from special US deals Serif's prices appear the same wherever in the world you are.
Unlike some companies who have several different currency sites and redirect you to a site that gives a local price at twice the going currency rate based on their US dollar home site. Fortunately with some you can bypass this and purchase off their US site and after your credit card has converted you have saved big bucks. But with some you cannot. Why they think they can charge you twice the price for downloading outside of the US or Canada I don't know. Surely it doesn't cost them more?

But the lower price could kill sales of the product from the UK source. If it was much lower, it could inhibit sales of the hardware version, disc and paper, which must cost a lot more to make and stock, using more capital. The download price might have to increase to allow for the loss of UK revenue per item.
I don't know for sure, of course, but I expect Serif doesn't make the obscene profits MS must take from each sale; I understand from one rep that costs are being tightened up at Serif Towers.
