Default New to MP X3. Question: AVE or WAV?

Just down loaded MP X3 today and have many questions, but if it is OK, I will start a new thread for each question.
First:
I loaded a tape as an AVI files.
Is that OK or should I have gone with WAV?
Frankly, I don't know the difference.
But everything seems to be working.
Please advise.

Wav is an audio only file. AVI is a video file containing video and audio. So yes AVI is what you want.

Sure glad to hear that, Eric.
Question:
If I had loaded as a WAV file, are you saying: All I would have got would have been audio?

I would expect so. I've never tried it.

I think you must mean WMV, not WAV. WMV (Windows Media Video) will work, but is more compressed and less suitable for editing.

Mike, I mean WAV.
In the How To pane it says:
"Select your preferred output file, AVI or WAV."

So it does, but I see only AVI and WMV options in that section.

Would appear that Henry has found a mistake.
