Possible Solution to Upload Hanging in WebPlus with XP

Hi, thought I would share this with others as it helps me sometimes.

Do you get WebPlus hanging on uploads when using XP? You know what I mean, it starts a file, then just sits there for hours if you let it.

Most times the following works for me:

Click Start > Run and type the following in the box:

net stop alg

and press enter or Click OK

This will stop the Application Gateway Service running on your PC, and hey, the upload is off again!

It appears to be down to the NAT (Network Address Translation) actions of the ALG, there appears to be too many translations happening, the ALG performs NAT's, your Router performs NAT's and probably your Modem Too.

By stopping the ALG service seems to fix the hanging.

You can of course turn back on the ALG service after you have uploaded by Click Start > Run and type the following in the box:

net start alg

and Press Enter or Click Go

Hope that helps someone

regards

Steve

I hope all is well. I have been unable to upload to my host (GoDaddy) by utilizing the upload feature from within Webplus X6 (an error occurred whilst trying to get the working directory from the FTP server). After searching this forum, I am beginning to speculate that this is because of our network settings. Trying to communicate this to our IT department has been frustrating. I have been told repeatedly that FTP uploads and downloads are not blocked. Does WebPlus X6 need additional permissions?

I published to disk folder and was able to upload these files, utilizing File Manager from within GoDaddy. But I am not sure if these files are the ones needed to publish?
