I make extensive use of WritePlus.
It's claimed to be a WYSIWYG editor but it lacks some very important functionality to be truly called WYSIWYG.

WritePlus doesn't show line breaks at the proper places. While my website has a fixed width WritePlus hasn't.

WritePus a has a white background while most sites haven't. The wrong backgroundcolour gives a wrong impression what the site really looks like. I tend to rewrite articles a bit so they fill the columns nicely without to much gaps/white space.

Obviously the lack of pictures in WritePlus isn't true WYSIWYG.

For me the primary focus for X7 should be: Completely remove WritePlus. Just edit everything directly in the main screen/page. 100% pure WYSIWYG. Colours, pictures, movies, sliders, etc.

I rather have true WYSIWG instead of list containing 1000 other new bits of functionality.

Ooops! This should be in PagePlus X7 wish list.

Text flow is great when importing a pdf or text file. But once the document is in Pageplus it would be good to be able to turn text flow off for the whole 'story' so that each page is independent and, for example, a decision to make major changes at the beginning of the document, which can be accommodated with new pages, does not disturb the page layout at the end of the document.

I don't know if that would have consequences for features such as TOC generation.

An alternative might be the ability to 'anchor' whole selected pages, which cannot now be done because there is no adjacent text.

Since a couple of years, I chanced upon PHOTOCOMMANDER put out by Ashampoo which I got at a real low price. I now have version 10 and I think version 11 is due out this month. It has an automatic "Quick fix" which I like when I'm in a hurry. It's quite effective and is mostly satisfactory for what I do. Anything like that coming out in PhP future versions?SM:UNSURE

The tree of knowledge.

Page Plus is not only a professional means of creating a visual or informational document it also has the basis of an educational tool.
There are two strands to this statement and both are associated with application in a schooling environment.
My grandchildren, six, nine and twelve are all highly computer literate, possibly because their father is involved in professional web design for a major organization.
Those children enjoy access to the computer and using the drawing programmes, they also like producing story books with both illustration and text. It would seem that there is a market for Page Plus Junior, a software programme that as well as enabling them to produce their books and learn about the graphic abilities of a computer, would also introduce them to Serif in a way that would naturally introduce them to the professional range of Serif products when they move into the world of employment. During the later years of schooling, Serif could set up an online test that assesses the standard reached by the scholar and they could then associate the result with their Curriculum Vitae for a prospective employer. By making contact with Serif to confirm that result, new companies would make direct association with the range of products.
The second strand is more associated with adult use but as an educational tool for children.
Family History, in a highly mobile global population, is becoming of great interest to those seeking their roots. My wife runs after school clubs, teaching young children how to research their family history as if they are young detectives looking for clues and asking questions. Much of this is associated with family photographs and documents. She is discovering that schools are very interested in this project and demand is growing for both the school clubs and more practical applications where the children make and decorate a family history box.
Most, if not all, of the software products on the market are just based upon a family history tree design. However, the ability to manipulate images and information in Serif Page Plus, suggests that it could be an ideal platform for family history researchers. Photographs and documents having a historical context, and templates for memory maps and family progression, could be very useful. Desktop computers and tablets are often seen being used by researchers in libraries and research environments.
The ideal means of evaluation would be for Serif to run a pilot software project in a local school to get feedback from the children. It is easy to underestimate a child’s ability to observe and make valid comment but they are capable of highly practical and creative lines of thought.
Perhaps the motto could be, ‘carefully tend the young shoots of a growing mind and the tree will be yours to treasure.’

We all know how keen Serif are to flog stuff :-). Any chance you could produce an update manager? Suddenly the machine is running slow and you don't know why, web pages fail to load (esp in Vista or Bloody Vista as I call it - on my old machine). Ah yes, bloody Micro bloody Soft is updating its bloody self again *in the background*. Or flash something, or AVG, or those gormless pdf people, or AVG again, and again..... It may happen *in the background* on their industry standard machines but on my clockwork laptop everything runs at the speed of treacle. How about a flash that says Leave the machine on when you've finished your work and we'll do the updating and switch it off for you?
